Despite its restricted age rating, Hyper Knife soared in popularity thanks to its unique story and the actors’ outstanding performances, becoming the most-watched Korean content globally and in the Asia-Pacific region on Disney+ just seven days after its premiere.

After its debut on March 19, Hyper Knife shot to #1 in the Disney+ Korea TV Show category within two days and maintained that top spot for three consecutive weeks until its finale. According to FlixPatrol, it also held the #1 position in Hong Kong and Taiwan, proving its widespread success beyond Korea.
Directed by Kim Jung-hyun and written by Kim Sun-hee, Hyper Knife follows “Jung Se-ok” (played by Park Eun-bin), a once-promising genius doctor who reunites with her mentor “Choi Deok-hee” (Sul Kyung-gu), the person who ruined her life, setting off a fierce and twisted conflict. The 8-episode drama was jointly produced by CJ ENM Studios, Dongpung Co., Ltd. and Blaad Studios.

Park Eun-bin’s dark and transformative role drew attention from the casting stage. She delivered a haunting performance capturing Se-ok’s obsession with brains and surgery, as well as her complex, distorted bond with Deok-hee. Critics and fans alike praised her for embodying a deeply unpredictable character with stunning precision in facial expressions, tone, gestures and psychological detail.
Ahead of the finale, Park Eun-bin shared, “The past five months with ‘Hyper Knife’ and Se-ok were intense. I discovered strange, delicate emotions I hadn’t known before. I hope viewers can feel those same unique bonds and ask themselves, ‘Why do such people exist?’ That’s my biggest wish.” She added, “Though it’s only eight episodes, we filmed each scene with care. I hope people continue to stream it on Disney+ and keep it in their hearts. Thank you so much for loving ‘Hyper Knife’.” Sul Kyung-gu said, “Thank you for being with ‘Hyper Knife’. Even after April 9, keep watching on Disney+.”

Viewers were particularly blown away by the final episode, “Park Eun-bin’s villain role? A genius performance”, “Sul Kyung-gu and Park Eun-bin’s dialogue scenes are gold” and “Binge-watched till dawn. 10/10.”
Production quality also earned rave reviews, “It’s hard to pull this off in just 8 episodes brilliant job, director” and “Acting, directing, music, writing, editing and cinematography all top-tier.”

Often called a “chameleon” for her versatility, Park Eun-bin once again proved her reputation as a top-tier actress, expanding her range with Hyper Knife. She’s now begun filming her next project The Wonder Fools.
Meanwhile, Hyper Knife continues to stream on Disney+ post-finale, and many fans have already begun rewatching the series—proof that the buzz won’t die down anytime soon.
